What Does Botox Do?

Botox works by weakening the muscles of facial expression. Once the resting tone of these muscles have been weakened, the pull of the muscles relax and the skin smoothes out. This method is an entirely different approach to treating the aging face. Collagen injections, which is a commonly used anti-aging treatment, works by filling in a wrinkle. However, collagen fillers are not as effective as Botox in improving the frown wrinkles between the eyebrows    

Effectiveness Of Botox Treatment

Botox takes 3-6 days to take effect and will last between 3-6 months. Botox is most effective for the frown lines between the eyebrows, but can also be used to minimize the horizontal facial lines in the central area of the forehead, and crows feet at he corner of the eyes. It is not effective for wrinkles in the middle and lower portion of the face.
